Whew… just in time here in Grayton Beach… the sun just woke up and we’re on our way out to the water. The Roam Guy and myself are ready to roll. That’s right… Roam & Roll. He roams… lives his best life… while I click away remembering my early photographer film days behind my Pentax K1000. Rolling the film back to unroll it for development in the darkroom. It’s a throwback here in Grayton… because of the quietness. More often than not Grayton Beach is not this quiet anymore.
Rolling on.
I can not explain these mornings… you just have to meet us out there one day. That’s just it. Summer is coming… so it becomes a little more on the side of rare than us locals would like. Nonetheless, the sunrise here is quite the spectacular event.
I left the grain in editing some of these. It matches the way I remember Red Bar and this part of Grayton Beach some odd 16 years ago. Yes, pre- shuttle days… pre- massive parking lot… pre- no parking signs. This spot has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I got upset somewhere in 2016 after having my first child, and I took a little sabbaticle from the area… still, now I’m back and ready to rock and roll.
Back to The Roam Guy… man, the water was like glass this morning.
Starting the day off right is definitely essential to anyone’s mental health… for our mental well being and health is a definition of our wealth. Sean got his board out and we talked on the way to the water.
And then I just clicked. It was on this day, May 1, 2025. I realized I was exactly where I was supposed to be. Behind the lense again… creating. Doing what I do best… I am a creative! I allowed myself to be caged for far too long….
